INTIMACY WITH GOD

1 John 4:15, 16  (Message)  "Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God's Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we've embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God."

You hear a lot about walking with the Lord.  There is a lot of discussion on what it takes to be in a real relationship with the Father.  We know of course, that no man comes to the Father but by the Son. So often, this is preached as the way to Heaven at death.  That you cannot get into Heaven without believing on the Son.  This is a true statement. The ony way to Heaven is to confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, believe on Him, repenting of your sins, follow Him into baptism and be born again in the Spirit.  This is the only way to obtain eternal life. The very only way.  There is no back door, as you have heard it put, into Heaven. Only Jesus.

But do you know that the scripture also means that Jesus is the key to the intimate relationship with the Father that we all seek.  You can only get to the Father through Jesus. Now, here on earth.  After repentance, baptism, there comes your life. How you live it now that you are counted as a child of God will determine your relationship with God.  God loves you, there is no way anything comes between the love of God and His children once they come to Him, washed clean with the blood of Jesus.  All sin is gone, you are reunited with the Father.  He has waited for you, has plans for you and so dearly loves you.

What have you done with your life since salvation was granted you?  Are you reading the Word, soaking up the words on the pages as one who has been on a desert and is so thirsty?  Do you speak boldly when you talk with the Lord, when you pray.  You are a child of God, don't be shy before the Father.  He has given you entrance to His Holy Throne, where He awaits you.  Where you can go and make your requests known to the Father.  God watches His children, watches for their faith to spring forward when they pray.  Praying with faith, knowing when they ask the Father, in the Holy Name of Jesus, that the Father will do what is needed.  Faith has to be present when you pray. If you do not believe the Father will answer your prayer, you are wasting your time. Prayer without faith is pointless.

Are you a beacon for the Lord.  Is your light shining so bright it would draw many around you to see what it is that you have, and all they know is that it is something they have to get for themselves.  You have joy, you are peaceful and you are blessed.  Our light must shine.  God pours His glory over us, giving us that glow of righteousness, and it will draw people to us.  Are you ready to witness, give scripture that will lift their spirits, giving them hope; are you telling people what the grace and mercy of the Lord has done for you?

All these things, these wonderful things that we do because we love the Lord.  We witness to others, we shine our light to all around us, spreading the word of God's love and salvation for each, we pray, so often, interceding for others needing prayer. And because we do these things unto the Lord, He will desire to spend time with us.  God loves all His children, but those who truly seek Him, He wants to spend time with them.  He desires to spend time with all His children, but not all seek His face, wanting to be one with Him.

God will come to us as we pray, as we worship Him with all spirit and truth, with open hearts, and He will make His home with us, abide in us.  He will hold us, sing His songs of love to us, and pour out so much grace....this is so hard to describe as it is the most wonderful experience you can have. If you do not have this relationship with the Lord, you must do whatever is necessary to obtain it.  There is no way once you are in the presence of God that you will not want to stay there.  Intimacy with God.  This is one with the Father, one being when you are in His presence.  There is such a closeness as the Father talks with you, tells you of His love, His plans for you.  Asks you about your day, yes, He knows how it went, but He wants you to talk to Him about it. He gives you a chance to pour out your heart on Him, pour out your love. It is love going out to God and love coming in from God to you.  So close, so intimate, just God and you, in your quiet time, while you rest, when you are alone in your car, wherever you are when you truly seek the Lord, He will be there, with you.

We are loved, so passionately by God.  How can we not want to live our lives holy unto the Lord, pure and undefiled, the only way we can have His presence.  The only way.

My God, I worship You and adore You.  I thank You Father for giving me Your love, Your presence.  You have blessed me so much.  I worship You with my whole heart, giving my all to You as You give unto me my hearts desire....only more of You.  This second day of the new year in You, my Lord, as I leave you with my singing heart full of love for You, this 2nd day of January, 2011.
